Our History

Decon Corporation's story began with a bold vision shared by two apprentices, Robert Guarino and David O’Brien. Having worked together at RG Ladd, they recognised the potential to create something exceptional. In 1998, they embarked on a journey to establish Decon Industries, which would lay the foundation for the dynamic company we are today.

The turning point arrived in 1999 when an international corporation acquired their employer, RG Ladd. Fueled by a commitment to excellence and their passion for the industry, Rob and Dave seized the opportunity to establish an electrical contracting business. This was the genesis of Decon Industries, which has since evolved into a national electrical contractor contributing to iconic projects year after year.

The ever-evolving landscape of telecommunications presented an exciting opportunity for Decon. In 2005, as preparations for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games were underway, Decon Technologies was born. This expansion allowed us to contribute to the growing demands of the telecommunications industry, providing innovative solutions for fibre installations and network augmentation.

With the dawn of mobile technology's rapid advancements, Decon Technologies expanded its horizons once again. In 2007, driven by Telstra's encouragement and the potential of mobiles, we ventured into the construction and maintenance of mobile towers. This step marked our commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies and being at the forefront of progress.

The emergence of the National Broadband Network (NBN) brought new opportunities for Decon Technologies. In 2010, we played a pivotal role in the rollout of the first NBN test site in Brunswick, Victoria. Our involvement showcased our dedication to driving connectivity and being part of transformative national initiatives.

Recognising the need to cater to diverse construction demands, we expanded geographically. In 2016, our operations expanded to Brisbane to serve Queensland's growing construction needs. The following year, our Brisbane office allowed us to play a significant role in managing operations in Queensland and beyond.

The year 2020 marked a milestone as we expanded our operations to Melbourne and Sydney. These additional offices reinforced our presence and capacity in the telecommunications and power generation industries. Our growth, driven by expertise and customer commitment, reflects our resilience in the face of challenges.

Decon's phenomenal manufacturing growth necessitated a new headquarters. Bidding farewell to their longtime Kilsyth home, they undertook a strategic relocation to a much larger and more sophisticated facility in Carribean Park, Scoresby. This move not only accommodates their current needs but positions them for continued success and innovation in the future.
