Decon is thrilled to announce that we’ve successfully designed, engineered, and installed a DC Sodium Metal Chloride battery system at TPG Telecom's data centre in Perth, WA.
This project highlights the power of collaboration within the telecommunications industry in driving sustainable advancements and a commitment to a circular economy. Sodium Metal Chloride (SMC) batteries offer a safe, long-lasting, and environmentally-friendly energy storage solution, ideal for ensuring the reliability of critical infrastructure like data centres. In comparison, SMC batteries have double the design life of 20 years and higher energy densities compared to lead acid batteries, enabling a significant reduction in floor loading.
You’ve heard us talk about these batteries before: as HORIEN’s exclusive distributor of the SMC batteries, you’ll find this clever technology in a wide range of our renewable energy products, including the Smart Power Cell. Indeed, it’s the kind of technology that is starting to shape the Australian landscape in bringing resilient, reliable battery backup and storage across a wide range of industries – supported by Decon's ability to ensure their long-term viability through authorised refurbishment.
We commend the collective efforts of our Decon team to execute this project and appreciate TPG's forward-thinking approach and partnership in this pioneering venture. Together, we're shaping the future of reliable and scalable energy storage in Australia.
