Over the past couple of days, the Decon team attended the CommsDay Summit 2026 in Sydney.
One thing that stood out to us wasn’t just the technology being discussed, it was the level of reflection across the industry. There was a noticeable shift from talking about “what’s next” to asking whether we’re getting the fundamentals right.
A few observations from the sessions and conversations:
▸ There’s a stronger focus on reliability over hype - not just building faster networks, but making sure they perform consistently when people depend on them
▸ Expectations have changed - connectivity is no longer a “nice to have”; it’s critical to everyday life, which brings a different level of accountability
▸ A lot of discussion centred around doing things better, not just bigger - especially when it comes to infrastructure, investment and long-term decisions
What we found interesting was that these weren’t just technical discussions, they were grounded in real-world impact and recent experiences across the sector
For us, it was a good opportunity to step back and listen. Understanding where the challenges are and where the industry is being pushed to improve - helps shape how we think about our role.
Good to be there, hear the conversations firsthand, and take those insights back into what we do.
